Fluticasone and salmeterol is a combination of two medicines that are used to help control the symptoms of asthma and improve lung function. It is used when a patients asthma has not been controlled sufficiently on other asthma medicines or when a patients condition is so severe that more than one maintenance medicine is needed. However this medicine will not relieve an asthma attack that has already started.brbrThis medicine must be used with a short-acting beta 2 agonist e.g. albuterol for the treatment of an asthma attack or asthma symptoms that need immediate attention.

Gargle and rinse your mouth after using this medicine to help prevent dryness relieve throat irritation and to prevent mouth infections such as thrush. Do not swallow the rinse solution. If you have been using a quick-relief beta agonist inhaler such as salbutamol/albuterol on a regular daily schedule you must discontinue this schedule and only use it as needed for acute asthma attacks. Consult your doctor. Do not take the inhaler apart or wash the mouthpiece of the inhaler. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature as directed on the package away from heat moisture or light. Keep the inhaler dry at all times.

If overdose is suspected contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include seizures chest pain unusually fast/irregular heartbeat severe muscle weakness muscle cramping and fainting.

LONG-ACTING BETA-AGONIST SUCH AS SALMETEROL MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF AN ASTHMA-RELATED DEATH. African American patients and patients prescribed salmeterol when their asthma condition is worsening may have an increased risk of asthma-related death. If you experience signs of worsening asthma and find that your fast-acting inhaler is not working as well or if you need to use it more often than usual such as using 4 or more puffs daily or using more than 1 inhaler every 8 weeks seek immediate medical attention. This may be a sign of worsening asthma which is a very serious condition. DO NOT SUDDENLY STOP using this medicine.

CONTINUE TO USE THIS MEDICINE even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT use 2 doses at once

This product is a combination controller medicine for long-term treatment of asthma and chronic lung diseases such as emphysema chronic bronchitis or COPD. It works to open the airways of the lungs in two ways decreasing bronchiolar swelling and causing muscle relaxation. This medicine does not work immediately and should not be used for acute asthma attacks. Use other quick-relief medicines/inhalers for sudden shortness of breath or asthma attacks.

Once a medicine has been approved for marketing for a certain use experience may show that it is also useful for other medical problems. Although these uses are not included in the product labeling fluticasone and salmeterol combination is used in certain patients with the following medical conditions:brbr

Keep out of the reach of children.
Store at room temperature.
Do not store in the bathroom near the kitchen sink or in other damp places. Heat or moisture may cause the medicine to break down.
Store away from direct heat or sunlight.
Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Be sure that any discarded medicine is out of the reach of children. brbr
The inhaler contents should be used within 1 month after opening the moisture-protective foil wrap or before the expiration date whichever comes first.

DO NOT STOP USING THIS MEDICINE without first checking with your doctor. Some conditions may become worse when the medicine is suddenly stopped. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or use this medicine more often than prescribed without checking with your doctor. Doing so would decrease the effectiveness of the medicine and increase the risk of side effects. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS. DO NOT DRIVE OPERATE MACHINERY OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to this medicine. Using this medicine alone with other medicines or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. Limit alcoholic beverages.
