Depression causes the complete mental break down. It makes to feel everything very dull and uninteresting. To get rid of this, you can use Effexor i.e. Venlafaxine is in a new class of anti-depressant medications that affects chemical messengers within the brain. Venlafaxine is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors SNRIs.These chemical messengers are called neurotransmitters and some examples are serotonin dopamine and norepinephrine. Venlafaxine like most anti-depressants can cause irregular heartbeat palpitations, drowsiness, nausea, headaches, blurred vision, constipation, dizziness, dry mouth, fainting spells, muscle aches/pains, painful erectionsother sexual dysfunction, skin rash, trembling, vomiting, unusual tiredness or weakness, anxiety, insomnia and loss of appetite.

Increased blood pressure can occur and blood pressure should be monitored. Seizures have been reported. If you notice any of the side effects mentioned here or any other symptoms which seem severe or persistent contact your doctor immediately.

If anti-depressants are discontinued abruptly symptoms may occur such as dizziness headache nausea changes in mood or changes in the sense of smell taste etc. Such symptoms even may occur when even a few doses of anti-depressant are missed. Therefore it is recommended that the dose of anti-depressant be reduced gradually when therapy is discontinued.

Life-threatening interactions can occur in combination with MAO inhibitors such as Nardil and Parnate. MAO inhibitors and Venlafaxine should not be taken together and a waiting period of 14 days between taking these two classes of medications is strongly advised.

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form or are taking any other medication in any other form like: Linezolid, St. Johns wort, MAO inhibitors, amphetamine, migraine headache medicines, cimetidine, dextroamphetamine, furazolidone, lithium, medicines for heart rhythm/blood pressure, medications for weight control/appetite, medicines for mental depression/mania/psychosis/anxiety, procarbazine, selegiline, alcohol etc.

Most medications affecting the brain such as Venlafaxine have the potential to slow reflexes or impair judgment. Therefore caution is advised especially early in the course of treatment.
Safety has not been established in children below the age of 18 years.

In case of overdose call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
If the suffering patient has collapsed or is not breathing call local emergency services at 911. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly.

Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had or having problems like: seizures, liver disease, anorexia/weight loss, mania/bipolar disorder, kidney disease, suicidal thoughts, or any suicide attempts, high blood pressure, heart problems etc. So that, your doctor can decide the dosing of the Effexor medication accordingly for you.

If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. And, if it is almost the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue to your regular dosing. Do not double your doses in any case.

Effexor XR is approved for the treatment of adults with panic disorder.
Venlafaxine is prescribed for the treatment of depression. Depression is associated with the symptoms of anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder.

Capsules should be stored at room temperature between 68 - 77 degrees F 20 - 25 degrees C away from light. Check Expiry date without fail. Keep all medicines away from women, newborns, children and pets. Also, keep it away from heat and direct light. Moisture or Heat may cause the break down of the medicine. In any case, do not store the Effexor capsules in the bathroom.

Following precautions must be taken during consuming generic Effexor:

1. Acknowledge your doctor if you are suffering from some kind of severe diseases or if you need to undergo any kind of surgery. Inform your doctor immediately about it, so that the doctor can decide whether to continue taking Effexor or stop it during the surgery.

2. Let the doctor also know if you are in-taking any prescribed or non prescribed medicines, health supplements or any OTC medications etc. for any other conditions.

3. Do not take this Effexor, if you have any kind of allergy to it or to any ingredients of it and tell your doctor or pharmacist about the allergy and get treated.

4. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breast feeding before taking Venlafaxine medication. Inform your doctor immediately when you plan to conceive, or become pregnant during the course.

5. Do not discontinue on your own. Consult your doctor before doing so.

6. Please, take the medicine in the prescribed amount and do not overdose it or use it for the longer period of time.

7. Do not share the drug with others unless they are prescribed by the doctor themselves.

8. Avoid Alcohol and alcoholic beverages during the course.
