Kenalog Triamcinolone Acetonide Orabase is a synthetic corticosteroid which possesses antiallergic, anti-inflammatory, antipruritic actions. This Kenalog emollient dental paste acts as an adhesive vehicle for applying the active medication to the oral tissues. The medication does provide a protective covering which may reduce the pain associated with oral irritation temporarily. It also gives relief from the oral inflammatory lesions and ulcerative lesions resulting from trauma. However, the medication should not be used if the patient is sensitive or allergic to any of its components.

In this medicine, each gram of Kenalog in Orabase provides 1 mg 0.1 Triamcinolone Acetonide in emollient dental paste containing gelatin, pectin, and carboboxymethylcellulose sodium in Plastibase® Plasticized Hydrocarbon Gel, a polyethylene and mineral oil gel base. However, as the medicine contains a corticosteroid, the preparation is contraindicated in the presence of fungal, viral, or bacterial infections of the mouth or throat.

It is not known whether it is safe to use during pregnancy. Therefore, before using the medication, consult your doctor without fail and get the information on it. The medicine should be avoided in early pregnancy, as it may harm the fetus fatally. Hence proper precaution is necessary in regarding to the usage of the medication.

If you notice any of the symptoms, which seem severe or persistent to you, please contact your doctor immediately. The symptoms may be – burning or increased inflammation in the mouth, blistering, signs of infection in the mouth etc.

Do not allow any other person to use your medication without getting doctor’s prescription themselves and also avoid using this medicine for other health conditions on your own. Keep the medicine away from the children and pets.

If you miss a dose of this medicine, apply it as soon as you remember. And, if it is almost the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue to your regular dosing. Do not double your doses in any case and consult your doctor for the missed dosage.

Triamcinolone Acetonide Dental medication should be stored at room temperature between 59 – 86 degrees F and 15-30 degrees C, in a tightly closed and light resistant container. Check Expiry date without fail. Keep all medicines away from women, newborns, children and pets. Also, keep it away from heat, dampness and direct light. In any case, do not store the Kenalog In Orabase tubes in the bathroom.

Following precautions must be taken during consuming generic Kenalog In Orabase:

1. Tell your doctor that if you are suffering from some kind of major diseases like blood pressure, heart, kidney or liver disease, diabetes or any other severe disease.

2. Also acknowledge your doctor if you need to undergo any kind of surgery, including dental surgery or need an x-ray procedure that uses contrast agents. So, inform your doctor immediately about it, so that the doctor can decide whether to continue taking Kenalog In Orabase or stop it during the surgery.

3. Let the doctor also know if you are in-taking or are planning to take any prescribed or non prescribed medicines, health supplements or any OTC medications, vitamins etc.

4. Do not take this Kenalog In Orabase, if you have any kind of allergy to it or to any ingredients of it and tell your doctor or pharmacist about the allergy and get treated.

5. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breast feeding before taking Triamcinolone Acetonide Dental Cream medication. Inform your doctor immediately when you plan to conceive, or become pregnant during the course.

6. It is not known whether this drug is excreted in the breast milk. But if you are planning or are already breast feeding, please consult your doctor before taking this medicine to avoid any reactions.

7. Do not share the drug with others unless they are prescribed by the doctor themselves. And if your symptoms of side effects do not improve in few weeks or if they become worse and bothersome, check these conditions with your doctor.

8. Please, take the medicine in the prescribed amount and do not overdose it or use it for the longer period of time. Do not discontinue on your own and consult your doctor before doing so to avoid further problems.
