Mobic Generic | | Mobic Generic descriptionsMobic i.e. Meloxicam belongs to a class of drugs known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug NSAID. Mainly, the Mobic i.e. Meloxicam medication is used to treat pain or inflammation caused by arthritis. Meloxicam works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.
Prostaglandins are chemicals that contribute to inflammation within joints and it is the inflammation that leads to the common symptoms of pain tenderness and swelling associated with arthritis. Meloxicam blocks the enzymes that make prostaglandins cyclooxygenase 1 and 2 and reduces the levels of prostaglandins. As a result inflammation, pain and its accompanying symptoms are reduced.
The generic Mobic i.e. Meloxicam was approved for use in April 2000.
