Mobic Generic

Mobic Generic descriptions

Mobic i.e. Meloxicam belongs to a class of drugs known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug NSAID. Mainly, the Mobic i.e. Meloxicam medication is used to treat pain or inflammation caused by arthritis. Meloxicam works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

Prostaglandins are chemicals that contribute to inflammation within joints and it is the inflammation that leads to the common symptoms of pain tenderness and swelling associated with arthritis. Meloxicam blocks the enzymes that make prostaglandins cyclooxygenase 1 and 2 and reduces the levels of prostaglandins. As a result inflammation, pain and its accompanying symptoms are reduced.

The generic Mobic i.e. Meloxicam was approved for use in April 2000.

However, before taking Mobic i.e. Meloxicam medication, ask your pharmacist or doctor for a copy of the manufacturer’s information for the patient and read it carefully. Talk to your doctor about all the possible risks of taking Mobic medication. However, Mobic may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide. Hence, for more information, consult your doctor and your medical pharmacist.

how to use Mobic Generic

Follow the directions given by the doctor exactly for the usage of the Mobic i.e. Meloxicam medication and also read the prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part that you do not understand.

However, the Meloxicam tablets may be taken with or without food. The lowest effective dose should be used for each patient. Meloxicam therapy usually is started at 7.5 mg daily. Some patients require a dose of 15 mg daily but this dose should be taken only under the direction of a physician.

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form and also inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form, as they may affect the way your medicine works.

Persons who have more than 3 alcoholic beverages per day may be at increased risk of developing stomach ulcers when taking Meloxicam or other NSAIDs. Cholestyramine i.e. Questran colestipol i.e. Colestid and colesevelam Welchol may decrease the effectiveness of Meloxicam by preventing its absorption from the intestine.

Lithium Eskalith or Lithobid blood levels may increase or decrease after Meloxicam therapy starts or stops. Therefore both the patient taking lithium and the blood level of lithium need to be evaluated when starting or stopping Meloxicam. Meloxicam should be used with caution in combination with blood thinning medications such as warfarin i.e. Coumadin because of an increased risk of bleeding.

This may lead to an increase in blood pressure and as a result the dose of ACE inhibitor or Lasix may need to be changed when starting or stopping Meloxicam.

Meloxicam should be avoided by patients with a history of asthma attacks hives or other allergic reactions to aspirin or other NSAIDs. If aspirin is taken with Meloxicam there may be an increased risk for developing an ulcer.

Moreover, Mobic i.e. Meloxicam may also interact with some kind of foods, varied medications, herbal products, nutritional supplements, vitamins, other OTC medicines, some vaccinations etc. Acquire more information about the interactions of the Mobic medication from your doctor and the medical pharmacists.
